Texas approves 254 CNA training programs, listed below from the state's official approved-program list (Texas HHSC Long-Term Care Regulation (NATCEP)), current as of September 2026. The most are in Houston (33), Dallas (14), Big Spring (10). About 98 run at colleges, technical schools, and adult-education programs, and about 60 at nursing facilities and care centers, where training is often free for employees under federal rules.
Texas requires 100 training hours (40 clinical), 25 above the federal minimum of 75, so full-time programs commonly finish in about 5 weeks. Once certified, a typical CNA in Texas earns $37,500 a year ($18.03 an hour), 11% below the national figure, per BLS wage data (May 2025).

How long is CNA training in Texas?
Texas requires 100 total training hours, including 40 clinical hours, against the federal minimum of 75. Full-time programs commonly finish in about 5 weeks; part-time tracks take longer.
Are there free CNA classes in Texas?
