Information collected when you read the site

The site uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. Google Analytics sets two cookies, _ga and _ga_SFED06831C, which last up to 400 days, and receives information such as your approximate location (derived from your IP address), device and browser type, the pages you view, and the page that referred you.

The site is served through Cloudflare, which processes technical request data, including IP addresses, to deliver pages quickly and to block abusive or automated traffic. The web server keeps short-lived technical logs for the same purposes.

Information collected if you create an account

If you register, the site stores your name, email address, and your password in hashed form (the password itself is never stored). Signing in sets a session cookie (authjs.session-token) that keeps you signed in for up to 30 days, plus short-lived cookies that protect the sign-in form.

Account holders can build resumes, save jobs, and apply to job listings. The site stores that content so you can use it. If you apply to a job, your application and the resume you attach are shared with the employer that posted the listing.

The resume suggestion feature

If you are signed in and ask the resume builder for suggestions, the text you submit is sent to OpenAI, which generates the suggestions. Do not include information in that text that you would not want processed by a third-party AI service. OpenAI's handling of API data is described in its own privacy policy.

Email

If you email the site, the message and your address are kept to answer you and, for corrections, to keep a record of what was changed.

Who information is shared with

Information is shared only with the service providers that run the site (Google for analytics and email, Cloudflare for delivery and security, the hosting provider, and OpenAI for the resume feature) and, when you apply to a job, with the employer you apply to. It may also be disclosed if the law requires it.

The site does not sell personal information and does not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. No advertising runs on the site at present; if that changes, this page will describe the ad networks and their cookies before they are added.

How long information is kept

Account information and resumes are kept until you delete your account or ask for deletion. Google Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in the site's Google Analytics account and then deleted by Google. Emails are kept for as long as needed to answer them and to keep the corrections record.

Your choices and rights

You can block or delete cookies in your browser, and you can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on. Blocking cookies does not stop you from reading the site; signing in requires the session cookie.

To see the information the site holds about you, correct it, get a copy, or have your account and its content deleted, email [email protected]. These requests are honored for every user, including residents of states such as California, Colorado, Virginia, and Connecticut that give these rights by law. You will not be treated differently for making a request.

Children

The site is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. Accounts are not intended for anyone under 16. If you believe a child has created an account, email [email protected] and it will be deleted.

Security

Pages are served over HTTPS, passwords are stored only as hashes, and access to the database is restricted. No system is completely secure; if a breach affecting your information occurs, affected users will be notified as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the new version is posted here with a new date.
