pharmacy technician pay

Pharmacy technician pay is nothing to sneeze at. In an age where many four year college graduates are ending up working minimum wage jobs, a tech with pharmacy experience can earn three times minimum wage even within the first year of employment.

A pharmacy technician salary will depend on a few different factors – one of them being whether or not the applicant has a degree or any related experience. Another will depend on the company and the geographical location of the job.

The average pharmacy technician pay in most states start out for the inexperienced tech at around $20,000 to $30,000 but with advancement in position and pay, a tech can expect to earn median range salaries of $40,000 or more.

Considering how little time and effort it takes to become a technician in the pharmaceutical field, the salary is a good one. Plus the education gained with this career has a lot of opportunities for work in a host of different types of companies.

One of the reasons it’s a good idea to go ahead and take the classes of study to become a certified tech is because right from the start, you’ll be pegged as a professional versus people without training.

Looking over government statistics, the projected number of people working as a pharmacy tech in the next seven years is still under half a million. That means that this will be an area of work that’s not saturated with more applicants than it is job openings.

It’s predicted that over the years, there will be more than a 30% increase in the number of people hired for this field. If you choose to seek certification, you’ll have to undergo re-certification as required by your state. Some certification boards require re-tests every two years while others are not required as often.

All of this will have a bearing on your pharmacy technician pay.
